In high school, while my friends celebrated university acceptances, I faced an uncertain path. My mother’s battle with breast cancer changed everything. We lost our home, and I worked two waitressing jobs to pay my bills. Visiting the University of South Florida (USF) filled me with awe and determination. Community college was my starting point, and I saved every penny for higher education. Student loans, grants, and multiple jobs sustained me. Looking back, I realize the impact mentors made during my clinical rotations as a RN and nurse practitioner. Now a DNP and AAPRN, I continue to mentor students, eager to give back. That is how Bridge2Better Foundation was born.

By joining our hands—two, then four, then more—we empower nontraditional students through mentorship and financial assistance. Let’s not only have nontraditional students reach the starting line but soar beyond it !
